Growing up in Alaska, books saw me through the cold winter months and joined me in the grass when the sun returned. Though I flirted with callings like stage management, project management, fundraising, and law, I've always wanted to work in publishing.
After extensive (though informal) experience editing academic papers, press releases, stories, and more, I decided to return to school to study book publishing. Once I graduated from Ooligan Press's book publishing graduate program, I began working as a freelance editor and ebook designer. |
Additional InterestsIn addition to work directly related to publishing, I have a broad base of knowledge in a number of disciplines and areas. Some highlights:
|
Publishing ExperienceAs a freelance editor, I've primarily split my time between copyediting and developmental editing novels. I have several clients for whom I edit shorter pieces, such as academic articles, blog posts, and resumes.
My time at Ooligan Press gave me experience in various areas of book publishing. Though my main interest has always been in acquisitions and editorial, I used the opportunity afforded by working with a student press to learn about and dabble in all of the departments. My love for editorial work was reinforced by the experience; I was also surprised to find out that I truly enjoy ebook design. |
